Objectives of the course

The objectives of these qualifications are to: 

• To develop the knowledge and competence needed to work effectively in adult care roles.

• To understand person-centred care and promote independence and wellbeing.

• To gain practical skills in supporting individuals with personal care and daily living.

• To explore health and safety, safeguarding, and communication within care settings.

• To develop reflective practice and professionalism in the care environment.

• To understand responsibilities in promoting equality, inclusion and rights of individuals.

Structure

To be awarded the Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care, learners are required to successfully complete unit assessments covering a combination of mandatory and optional units relevant to the adult care sector.

The units are:

• • • Unit 1 – Promote communication in care settings

    • Unit 2 – Promote personal development in care settings

    • Unit 3 – Promote equality and inclusion in care settings

    • Unit 4 – Promote health, safety and wellbeing in care settings

    • Unit 5 – Safeguard and protect individuals from abuse

    • Unit 6 – Responsibilities of a care worker

    • Unit 7 – Duty of care in care settings

    • Unit 8 – Promote person-centred approaches in care settings.

How the course is delivered

This Level 3 Diploma in Adult Care is delivered through blended learning. Learners receive full access to a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE), which includes interactive modules, case studies, presentation slides, downloadable resources and web links.
Ongoing tutor support and guidance is available throughout the course. Learners can interact with tutors, receive personalised feedback, and submit assessments online. Face-to-face support may be delivered through video conferencing or in-person sessions depending on the learning setup.

Entry requirements

• This qualification is designed for learners aged 19 or above. Learners should already be working in a care setting or have access to a real work environment. A suitable level of English language, literacy, numeracy and ICT skills is required.
